I know this is going to sound unusual but I want to use Z3TA+2 in a live setting and I only want it to respond to MIDI channel 1. Is this possible? Thanks

Wouldn't that be handled by the host? I do not believe the minihost has a way to set the input channel, if this is the question.

Z3TA+2 receives and plays ALL incoming MIDI channels. I just want channel 1.

I really don't want to have to open Sonar X3e Producer just to be able to assign a single channel input. I'm just wondering if the standalone Z3TA might do it.

AFAIK, the Z3TA+2 standalone cannot do it. Other solutions would be Forte from http://www.brainspawn.com/ , Cantabile http://www.cantabilesoftware.com/ or on the cheap something like VSTHost http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm may work for you.

You're saying Z3ta 2 defaults to Omni-on and can't be changed?  ok,  I'll have to make a note of that, thanks.

These are all the standalone settings I know of for all the Cakewalk synths
ESC: All Notes Off
F1/F2: Open/Close z3ta+ Editor (mainly for testing purposes)
F3: Set to 44100
F4: Set to 48000
Shift+F3: Set to 88200
Shift+F4: Set to 96000
F5: Transpose -12
F6: Transpose -1
F7: Transpose +1
F8: Transpose +12
F11/F12: Previous/Next Program
Left/Right arrows: Bend down/up
Up arrow: CC1
Down arrow: CC2
Space bar: Aftertouch

Karyn, the standalone is omni. I found this out because I play a MIDI accordion where the right hand is channel 1, chord buttons are channel 2, and bass buttons are channel 3. They ALL trigger the synth. As you may imagine, in most cases I only want the right hand [piano keyboard] to trigger the synth patch.

scook, thanks for the links. I didn't know they existed. I'm going to investigate them.

Hi Thom,

One other suggestion is that you could use MIDI Yoke MIDI OX combination to create a virtual MIDI Yoke channel that is only receiving MIDI Channel 1 from your MIDI accordion.  Then route that virtual MIDI Yoke channel to the input of z3ta+ standalone.

A MIDI accordion + z3ta+ seems to be a pretty awesome combination.    Good luck with your setup.

Cheers,
Chad

Thanks guys. I'll give all of these ideas a look. There has to be a solution in here somewhere. I'll post back here when I get it working. :)
