When I copy a drum track, then insert a new MIDI track and paste the copied drum track to the new MIDI track, then make changes to it (add instruments, etc.) the tracks seemed to be linked and the pan and volume of the tracks affect each other. I cant adjust one without the other adjusting as well. I have tried using the Console View as well as the individual track mix strips. Are they linked somehow and how do I "unlink" them? I need them panned differently in the mix.

This sounds like what happens when you clone an Instrument track. Try splitting the insturment track, and copying/cloning only the MIDI track. Then, depending on what you're trying to accomplish, you may also need to create new audio track getting input from another channel of the drum synth or from another instance of the synth.

Right click on one of the linked clips and from the resulting menu, select "Unlink Step Sequencer clips".

Being a drum track, the clip may have started life as a step sequencer clip.  When you copy and paste a step sequencer clip, the two clips are always linked Step Sequencer clips (Sadly, there's no way to change this behaviour that I know of).

Of course if the menu item "Unlink" is clickable, select that one to unlink.

I had the same problem a week ago and it just went away. No idea why, hopefully this will happen for you.
