It has been so long since this was a problem that I can't remember how I fixed it. Can anyone remind me?
After updating yesterday I am once again unable to drag audio or MIDI  files from Windows Explorer directly into Sonar tracks.

I miss that!

Thanks!

this is often caused by running SONAR as administrator

Hi Scott,

Sadly I'm not running as administrator - but I do remember that was one problem some time ago, I had to run ad admin to use Pentagon I think.

This was a change that occurred with the most recent upgrade.

Thanks,

Bill

Yes, without modifying the registry Pentagon requires running as administrator.

I cannot replicate the problem. If you believe the problem is associated with the most recent update, does rollback restore the function?

It still should be possible to drag and drop clips from the media browser in SONAR.

Hi Scott,

That's good news indeed, something other than the update may be the culprit! I haven't had time to roll back yet, but hope to do so one evening this week.

Drag&Drop from the media browser still works too.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill's correct.  I just replicated the problem here. Was running Platinum 2016.09 until a few minutes ago.  Opened up a Windows file folder on my desktop and dragged and dropped a loop into an audio track in my Sonar project.  Worked just fine.

Then I opened up CCC and upgraded to Platinum 2016.10 (was planning to do this today anyway).

Tried dragging the same file directly from a Windows folder, and now my mouse icon becomes the circle-slash symbol as soon as I move it over the Sonar GUI.  I can still drag the file from the internal Sonar file browser OK.

So something definitely did change with the latest update ...

Drum roll ...

Rolling back to 2016.09, plus a reboot, put drag and drop back to the way they worked before the update.

OK, I just updated to Platinum 2016.11, and until a reboot, the drag/drop was not working.

So that part is working ok now, at least!
