Does anyone have the latest info on OS X?
I truly miss using Sonar.
I've been on a Mac since March.

Me too! I signed up for lifetime updates just to get the Mac version. In hindsight, that was probably a mistake.

If Sonar Mac will not be a succes after all.....good news is Mac/Apple like performance and gear has come to Windows / PC.
 
Fe, Universal Audio new line of Appollo Thunderbolt 3 is available for Windows now too, as are Windows Notebooks (and a rare Desktop) with Thunderbolt 3 port.
 

I know I shouldn't get into a Mac vs PC debate (FWIW I think OSX is mostly a good OS even if I prefer Windows), but that is just a silly statement. Generic PC hardware has always been able to outperform Mac hardware and usually for less money. Arguably since before but especially after the switch to Intel. My last laptop (5 years old) ran circles around the then current MB Pro and my current laptop easily competes even with the current Mac Pro (and is more expandable by far).

If you don't think that's the case you've probably been looking at the wrong PCs. Apple simply buys and appropriates regular PC parts, there's very little magic in there except I suppose the touch pad and the case.

Running wifi networking at low audio latency is still a lottery on PCs. Not on Macs.
Windows doesn't have built-in MIDI networking, and if it did the dpc latency wifi adaptors nearly always cause would make it somewhat less than usable unless networking were done by ethernet.

On the plus side if Cake's new stuff for getting low latency out of an-board sound chips is as good as claimed, then so long as you use Sonar a PC may be able to use onboard sound as easily as a Mac can. This is something MS should have sorted out a long time ago.

And Windows PCs offer more power per buck spent.

I keep hearing this but I've honestly never encountered this mythical wifi dpc issue. My WiFi has always been on on all my laptops and I've used over ten (vastly) different audio interfaces with them without a single issue of that kind.
That's not to say I don't like CoreAudio better because I do.

Mythical? Hardly. I've seen it on every PC I've had.

Switching off wifi is regularly recommended on this forum as a first step in solving a drop-out problem.

I know it is, that's why I find it so odd that it has never been an issue for me. I've always used Ethernet on my desktops and my three music laptops have been problemless in this regard. I know that's very anecdotal but since people keep mentioning it...
