I checked out The Bakery.... I am not impressed. Looks to me like everything will be jumbled together and nothing will end up getting addressed. Just my opinion, hopefully I'm wrong. (NOTE: I am old and therefore resist change. Ha ha!)

+1

I think they call this a "soft release", which means testing it in a pre-alpha state with public users rather than finishing the design for it ... not impressed, not going there again until this is properly implemented... even then i'm not sure the bakery will be any better (here's another one resisting change) but this forum with google search fills all the gaps in the official documentation ...

Noticing the little cupcake in the start menu now,, boy, how is anyone going to notice that? If I hadn't have been told it was there I would have missed it.

I think it will be sad to see this forum die. It's a true blue community of unusually friendly and helpful folks. This is rare on most forums. Try the Stienburg forum,, cold and heartless.
This forum has a soul and it's the main reason I like coming here when I have time to kill on coffee breaks or in the evening.
I doubt very much that I'll have anything to do with this new forum, not my style..

This forum works for people needing help, show me one thread that the OP stayed engaged that their problem wasn't solved. So maybe it doesn't work for Cake anymore, but it works for us.

Please make the Bakery (if it continues to exist):

1. To have the option to see threads in forward or backward order (pleases almost everyone)
2. Have no ads on the sidebar (they annoy real users)
3. Only allow Cakewalk Registered Users to post (keeps the riff-raff out)
4. NOT shut down this forum (most of us still like it here and have repeatedly stated why it's of value)

Agree 100%

Perks & Rewards!

Are you kidding?
I am a customer, not a kid in a contest, not in kindergarden!
This puts me of The Bakery in a big way.

+1 for 'Why menu is not at the first page'
+1 for 'I am a customer, not a kid in a contest, not in kindergarden!'
+1 for 'Cupcake may get unnoticed.'

How to find the hottest topics?
How to find most viewed topics?
How to find topics I have started?

There's still work to be done. In theory Bakery is better than the forum, especially to organize things, but I'm afraid users do not act as rationally as the new system requires to work as designed.

I guess I don't really understand the point of the Bakery. Apparently something is wrong with the current forum, since it seems it's going to be replaced? Time and again people have noted that this forum is a major boon to using Sonar. I hope they're careful and considerate of that. If many folks leave because of the significant changes, whatever those are, that would seriously impact the usefulness of the forum/Bakery. And if not much changes, what's the point of setting up a new place at all. I've only briefly visited but I too missed cues on what I'd read or not, and hate the newest-at-the-top format, that's super confusing. I understand the idea that you'll always get right to the newest information but the current forum already takes you to the last unread post when you open a thread. That makes a lot more sense to me.

I guess I mainly don't understand what CW hopes to "fix" with the Bakery, and worry that they might throw out what makes this place special in the process of "improving" it.

My guess is they are not happy with the original forum for what ever reason and are willing to take a chance on loosing long standing formites.
I just this morning after installing my new copy of Home Studio had an issue with TTS-1. It would not launch in HS and Professional. I have seen a few threads about this,, but of course the search function doesn't work.
I had to use Google. So there's a big reason to change things, for sure the search function needs improving.

Then I pondered posting a question about why this is happening after 12 years of using trusty old TTS-1, but I wasn't sure I should try the new forum or put it here so I just sorted it out myself and left it at that.

But that brings up the big reason for this forum, I new I would have received an answer on short notice.
and when a bunch of people are having the same issue it gets noticed by all.

The big question will be how many "helpers" will be lost to the new forum.

^^^^ That is huge. The glaring black eye about "important note about customer support" at the top of the Bakery makes it obvious this is already considered. Jeopardizing the primary support vehicle as it stands today is not the wisest idea on the planet.

i agree! I usually spend a coffee each morning reading posts of interest. If Cakewalk eliminates this forum I will just have to check the command center periodically for updates. I also don't like the format of the"Bakery". At least I'll have more time to make music...
