That is correct. As i mentioned above, it was last bundled with X3. If you want to use Pentagon, perform an advanced install of an older version of SONAR adding the plug-in. Keep in mind it is a DX plug-in, install the appropriate 32 or 64bit version.

nah. too much trouble that shouldn't be required. i'll just search for some freeware , while you work on getting Pentagon available for Platinum :P

All this about Pentagon going missing raises an interesting conundrum of sorts:  Is it illegal to share?

Pentagon is just a folder here:  C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXi\Pentagon on Win7-64bit.  I mean, it used to be "free" packaged I guess with X3 or whatever.

Then there's things like V-vocal, etc., going "missing".  Luckily I have become a backup nut, and keep every plug-in I've ever had over all these years burnt to DVD, just in case the next disaster hits.

Of course it is not permitted to share any of the software bundled with SONAR. Pentagon was never "free." It was bundled as part of SONAR distributions. There was a time when Cakewalk offered Pentagon for sale. The separately sold Pentagon included a 32bit VST version.

If you had X3 back in the day, you can still download it and install Pentagon. Sorry to mislead. I often am unaware when items stop being included in the latest release because I still have them on my computer.

I did have X3...so would I just re-install X3 so Pentagon would install with it, then delete X3 and Pentagon would remain or...?

No need to install everything but you will need to run the X3 installer, after the serial number screen is the basic/advanced install option. Select the advanced install option. From the component checklist, deselect everything except Pentagon, if that is all you wish to install.

After installing Pentagon, if you prefer not to run SONAR as administrator and are comfortable editing the registry, change permissions on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\rgc:audio software\DXi\Pentagon I to allow Users Full Control.

first install attempt, I got an error saying it was unable to load Pentagon1 as an instrument in Platinum. I only installed Pentagon1 and cut short the pop-up box for some Microsoft thing that I guess X3 needs to run..can't remember the name, is that necessary for Pentagon1 to run in Platinum? Any other things to make it work in Platinum?...I've deleted the X3 install of Pentagon1 and will try again...

This reads like the usual message when trying to load Pentagon without running SONAR as administrator. Try again running SONAR as administrator or perform the registry hack I describe above.
