I am not sure if this has been requested before, but when working with multiple interfaces, it would be very helpful to have settings for Audio->Devices, Driver Settings, and Playback and Recording saved as a preset that could be recalled easily.

In my specific case, this would be fine even with no project loaded, as I could simply (save,) close/reopen without issues; but it would be nice to have working modes for given hardware remembered.

Actually, this does dovetail with the tracking/post-production request (buffer adjustment), but this one is more encompassing. I also shift driver mode/interface enough that this is taxing.

Whenever I have that sort of thing, where I might have multiple needs for something, I usually create a text or Word document with a complete list of whatever is needed for each set of settings, and that way I can go down the list and make sure I have properly accounted for all of the things needed for any given choice.  This works for lots of different kinds of things, for me.

Sonar is a capable of doing a scan for Windows based device drivers and recommend basic settings.

Why can't it do that for ASIO?

And if it can scan as it does why can't it save that in an ini file or something.

One big difference between ASIO and the other drivers is the host has no control over buffer settings with ASIO. Saving the buffer setting would do no good, it cannot be changed from within SONAR. Other than that, everything else could be stored as a preset.

Having a complete profile and saving the selected profile per project would be cool.  There are so many USB capable devices out there.  I have several myself, and they are a pain to switch between.

As an example, being able to setup a project (and template) with device selection and settings for a BOSS GT-001.  Another for the generic US-16x08 interface, and yet another for a Zoom R24.

This would be pretty handy for sure, saving TONS of fiddling around.

You can simulate this by saving the various aud.ini files that the different devices make use of with different names and having a quick'n'dirty batch/command script that copies the 'right' one over aud.ini and then invokes the SONAR exe.
