  • Has anyone used the Soundcraft Signature 22MTK with Sonar? (p.2)

Sonar could not see all of the USB INs/OUTs, only 2. But it was a while ago so I don't remember all the details.

It has arrived.

Certainly looks/feels the business.  Can't say much more yet as having a problem with installing the drivers.

The Wizard ran quite happily, then a window popped up saying "To complete insallation you must disconnect and reconnect your device.

This I do.  When I then click on "Finish" the same window pops up again.

Any ideas anyone?

I am waiting for calls back from both Soundcraft Tech Support and their distributor's Tech Support.

Finally got it to work by using a different port.

Good news is that Sonar is showing all 14/12 ins/outs.

Was not left with any time to experiment beyond playing back some loops, but will try recording some audio when I get back to studio.

The EQ does sound great, though.

I was thinking of getting that board but it doesn't have any send returns.  The board I did get works as well with the USB as it does with the Firewire (it has both options), so USB recording and playback should be fine for you.

What board did you get?

So far it is a thumbs up for the MTK.

Only had a brief play with recording over one channel, but it seems to do everything that I hoped it could, and more.

Latency is really low.  Sounds fantastic.

Will hopefully have a little time tomorrow, and more on Wednesday to put it through its paces.

So far, glad I waited..

So a real test would be to have several outboard synths driven by their respective midi tracks recording all-at-once (simultaneously) to their respective audio tracks. Like recording a live performance.

At the highest resolution, how may individual channels can it send to Sonar simultaneously?

A common issue among many mixers today. You have to use a stereo channel strip for the returns.

I didn't like this idea at first, but now I think you should be able to route the FX return channel via USB to it's own audio track in Sonar enabling you to record both the dry signal and the FX'd signal separately. And you could even have several FXs (3-MTK12 & 4-MTK22) affecting one source while recording them all separately.  THAT would be cool!

Could you do that if it had real FX returns?

I have started a new thread in the Hardware Forum with my impressions/ tests so far, if anyone is interested.

In answer to OP:-

Yes, it works amazingly with Sonar.
