Since a few versions back, the snap function in the staff view no longer follows the note values.  Was this done on purpose?  No matter which note I choose, it is too easy to insert it 60 ticks off either way (with a 480 timebase) because every note is treated as a 32nd note, which is 60 ticks.  Before, if you were in the vicinity of where you needed to place the note, it would snap to the correct position.  It no longer does this...There should be an option to turn snap off and on in the staff view as there is globally for other views.

The staff view could definitely do with some more love, you are right though staff view snap is fixed at 1/32th.

you probably have the option "Last Touched" checked in your snap settings.
This is a great feature if you know what it is. if you don't, then snap follows previously touched notes.
Sorry wrong view

I recently upgraded to Sonar Professional after having used Cakewalk Pro 9 for more than 10 years, and I'm very upset to find out that the Snap function doesn't work anymore in the Staff view... I do all my arrangements in the Staff view! The absence of the Snap function really makes entering notes directly in the correct rhythm a nightmare and kills my productivity!!! The reason why I decided to upgrade to Sonar is that I'm very much used to the Cakewalk Staff interface, which I always found basic but very practical. If I knew this in advance I certainly would not have bought Sonar Professional. I expected the program to have improved, not detoriated from previous versions! Developers please fix this!!!! It can't be too hard, it was implemented in previous versions!
