Is there a procedure for installing it without the CCC. I am on Studio One and I would prefer to install it without this. I do have a serial no and unlock code etc so I can authorise it that way manually if required.
 
I have downloaded a version that is only 18 Meg in size instead of the 100 Meg install. Anyone know what the difference is.

well seeing as no one else seems to be going to answer you, might be the studio one thing, they are a bit sensitive around these parts, studio one is my main daw as well, although i do have sonar platinum and lifetime updates, but it doesn't get much use. you have the install file and codes and everything, just go ahead and install it i say, should be fine, what's the worst that can happen? i updated mine via the ccc, although i did download the installer manually as well from my account to manually install it before i changed my mind and let ccc do it all, it was 18.6mb. i have owned it for years, never use it, it's ok, but there are definitely better available out there imo, still i guess you are getting it for nothing, cost me $49 or $89 or something way back, so that's a bargain

Cannot wait to check it out!!!  This working for a living thing sure does get in the way sometimes...

Opened up a project I was never happy with the bass track.  Took the compressor I had on it off and slapped this one on.  It improved the track to give me a sound I preferred.

Try it as the second in a two stage compression setup.
 
By that I mean put your original compressor at the top of your chain (personally I just use the default PC track compressor) to squish/tame the input from the bass then later near or at the end of the chain use the PC/CA2A.
 
You may want to turn the first compressors settings to be less extreme then compensate for the difference with the PC/CA2A... thus the two stage compression. Then find a balance between the two.
 
Of course I'm no pro. It's just how I've done it and like it on straight up bass sounds.

I was considering using the Adobe Audition CS6 program for my mastering needs, but not now. CS6 is frozen in time by Adobe. Cakewalk on the other hand is now leaving them in the dust...My new Aphex Aural Exciter works fine in Sonar, but won't work in CS6. The CA2A program is the icing on the cake !! Now I can do my mastering in Sonar !!!!!

Thanks to The Grem much appreciated.  You inspired me to finish the process.  For those who are in a similar situation to myself here are some hints.
 
I already have an active Cakewalk account from an existing 8.5 producer install on my 32 bit machine.  (If you dont it is simple to create one)  I did download the 18 meg version and that is all you need. I simply ran that and it performed the install smoothly. It did put it in a slightly strange location. You just have to let Studio One know where it is in the VST Locations settings. Simply add that location to the list. It opens up and runs perfectly in demo mode.
 
A simple request and response activates it fully and all offline. So did not need CCC at all to do this.  Thanks very much to Cakewalk for such a quality free plugin.  Also there is a fine Cake TV video on it and the documentation is excellent too.
 
I am also a long term Sonar user and like having 8.5 installed on the same machine as a Studio One install.  It allows you to use all the mastering plug-ins inside Studio One which is great.  I am also big fan of Rapture as well. I enjoy following this forum and enjoy contributing to the Techniques section.

Wow, getting this CA-2A Limiter made my week !! I tried it out on a couple test recordings I have and they sounded great !!! Thanks a lot Cakewalk !!!!!!!!
 
This weekend has been awesome. First, Waves sent me a notice that their Aphex Aural Exciter was on sale, knocked down from $299 to $89...I was just looking for an exciter the other day, so I grabbed it. Then I get the notice from Cakewalk for the free CA-2A....regular price about $99 bucks....so bottom line is I scored $400 worth of plugins for $89 bucks !!!!! These two plugins will make a permanent improvement to my mixes !!! I'm stoked !!!!
 

Geez, I use the Free CW Exciter, It's truly Bad Booty! :)
