That sounds good to me and would make it more flexible.

Maybe we should lobby to have the ProChannel modules available in the fx bin. that would seem the easiest from a programing point of view and provide the most flexibility. all Pro Channel modules are VSTs just a bit of code that locks them inside the PC. Yes/No.

I think that's a different point, or at least, it doesn't address the thing I'm thinking about.

What I find useful about the PC is is the ergonomics of it. It's all just sat there, UIs exposed, ready to be tweaked and read at a glance. Also, using the v700, I have really quick access to everything in a PC strip via the console.

Agreed, I'd like the issue addressed in the Pro Channel, not with the FX chain. They could be raised too, but that's not the issue here.
Use an Quad EQ before and after
Use the same compressor before and after

Should be doable

Yep. I get it. Thanks.

Also wasn't aware that VS700 provided access to everything in the pro Channel. I've been under the mistaken belief that only the EQ is accessible in the PC no matter the protocol or control surface.

I don't think any other surface has a way of doing this, but on the V700, repeatedly pressing the EQ select button steps through all the modules in the current channel's PC. It's a really nice feature.

In fact starting from X1d, V700 just change ACT focus to ProChannel modules. Starting from the first and "Focus next" on following EQ presses. Any surface can in fact do this (except selecting ProChannel, which should be done by mouse with other plug-ins... except my own).

I was digging for hours VS code to find the peace of code which select ProChannel EQ on first "EQ button" press till I came to the conclusion it is not searching at all. The API has required call, but no plug-in is using it (not even V700).

So, at the moment Alphatrack and BCR2000 are only devices which are proved to really controlling EQ when you press EQ, MCU should theoretically do that as well in addition to the ACT option.

Yeah, it doesn't work like that. Basically, the v700 channel strip section has two modes, EQ and SEND. When in EQ mode, the channel strip controls the first module in the PC. Pressing the EQ button repeatedly steps through the modules. So there's no "first press", as such, it's just always on.

I wish I hadn't started this thread lol....

I'm glad you did! Both @ and JT are very knowledgeable in this field. And I read the whole thread. You can learn a lot when two guys that know what they are talking about try to prove a point to each other!!

Happens all the time. ;)
