Hey guys,

I’d just finish a new song, this is my sixth mix. Inputs would be greatly appreciated. This time I got a mixing headphones(HD 280 Pro), and it makes so much difference when controlling the low en compare to my multimedia speaker. I need to take frequent breaks though.

Thank you,

I almost never make this recommendation (because most people err in the opposite direction), but this song could stand a little more master bus compression. Considering you mixed it on HD280Pro's you did a fine job with spectral balance, but I'd bring up the bottom just a little bit. Just a little.

I’ve never tried masterbus compression yet and I definitely will on my next song. I want to mix with speakers but my room has no AC and has 2 windows on 2 sides both open for airflow and I can’t correctly eq with all the outside noise. And I dont want to use solo button when eqing so the best that I can do now is to use headphones and use the speaker as secondary measure(on top of referencing with other songs). Does Sonar Professional come with Master Bus Compressor or I can just use the standard compressor?

Any compressor will do, despite what marketing literature will tell you regarding "bus" compressors.

If you want to try one that's specifically designed for master bus compression, and that also happens to be FREE, then grab Kotelnikov from TDR. There's a paid version that gives you more flexibility with the sidechain filter, but it's pretty cheap IIRC.

If you have Platinum, it includes an emulation of a classic bus compressor as a ProChannel module. It's pretty good.

Alright man, thank you so much for the input, I’ll check Kotelnikov but I’ll use the stock compressor for now.

Not enough bass for my tastes. Almost nondescript.

Vocals could use some delay, IMO.

Dave is probably right about needing more bus compression.

Yeah a little more delay might be a good idea. Thanks man.

Nice stereo separation. Drums are reduced to snare and cymbals and generally low in the mix. Love the the guitar sounds. I would agree with previous  "bus compression" comment.

Yeah, i should at least have the beater kick visible and have the drums overall a little louder.
