Hi all,
I am having a problem with splitting grouped tracks for comping. I tracked a violin with two mics and grouped the clips during tracking. When I try to split the tracks all of the takes stay grouped making it impossible to audition and select individual clips that are grouped.

Is there a way to comp group tracks that will allow me to select a clip and it will solo ONLY that clip and its grouped partner? Thanks for the help. The idea of doing it all manually doesn’t sound like sunshine and lollipops!

When you are comping you don't normally split the clips. You open up the take lanes and use the comping tool, or smart tool, and drag across the area of a specific take that you want to promote.  If there are groups clips across tracks then whichever take you promote in one track gets promoted in each of the grouped tracks.

Is this what you are trying to do?

Reginald, that did the trick! I've always just split the clips at the needed comp points. Left over way of doing things from very old Sonar days. When the new comping features came out I finally stopped using them because I was consistently getting a bazillion little clips. Thanks a ton!!
