It's still at least 2 clicks - more if you want to engage input echo on the newly armed track.

A one click solution would be heaps better.

I appreciate that.

I was merely offering the OP an alternative to "I have to disable record on each track" , thus one click replacing many.

Good idea. However, I would not link the Input Echo button as suggested. Many of us do not use that. For example, I use a Fireface UFX for all monitoring so I do not use the Input Echo for recording. It may become annoying to have to disable that each time.

I'm the opposite. I often monitor through the DAW rather than the UFX because I've put modulation or delays with different settings on tracks/aux channels in the DAW and use them to build patterns and need to hear them all the time. So I'm generally monitoring through the DAW rather than hooking up a lot of external hardware fx.

So I like the echos to be on most of the time on a bunch of tracks, not just the ones I'm recording to.

I do a lot of multi track recording and use a control surface, so everything is just 2 buttons away

unless fully configurable back to what we currently have I am the first to opt against. sonar is not just bedroom studio only and auto-echo feature like that on the MIDI tracks have caused serious headaches before.

hitting exclusive record by mistake in case of multiple track recordings can have devastating consequences (just think of live recordings)

And if you have more tracks than you surface? Do you see on your surface (or anywhere else) how many tracks are armed in the entire project?

The original proposal was to make it an OPTION, like exclusive solo. So the default will be still the same. If you against my "replacement" for the default (which by the way I also asked to be an OPTION), can you provide some example when you want to record one audio input into several tracks simultaneously?

If you do not hit "all record disarm" button by mistake (which is already there) probably you will not hit "exclusive record" switch near it

This is really a good idea.

This option could be set with a flag in AUD.INI

I like this idea too, but I'm with Sylvan as I only need the input echo on for specific situations...

you see it in the console view - the red filled circles
using quick groups works fine with CS / arm all tracks in folder does the trick with the mouse

in general, I still believe there are more useful features to be implemented than replacing something that takes 3 clicks at the most (disarm all + arm track + enable track monitoring) with something that takes one click ... theoretically this is a 3 times speed up,  but in the total recording, editing, mixing process is probably less than 0.000001 percent
