Mine takes about 90 seconds to start 1st time  and  if i close and open again it takes about 30 seconds.
Rescan failed or rescan existing VST's  is off.
Black Rectangle  with Sonar Name takes the longest to disappear.

I'm always connected to the interwebz.  SONAR starts up in 5 - 8 secs to the Start Screen.  Yes, this is with an SSD.

Back in the Rap Pro days, when huge sample libs were first being dealt with, some of us ended up adding SONAR and related PATHs to the AV exclude lists.

If you watch processes in Task Manager during startup, do you see your anti-virus process jumping up in CPU use?

Hi BobF!

I read your comments and paid attention to Windows Task Manager. I saw Windows Defender anti-malware was contributing to make Disk work on its full capacity.

I also tried to change the anti-virus configurations, turning it off, as well as adding Sonar folders to the exclude list. But unfortunately it didn't work.

Also the issue only happens when I run Sonar for the first time, so I'll try more later.

Thanks!

After the first SONAR startup after boot, subsequent startups should be faster because of caching by Windows.

In addition to the SONAR program directory being excluded, I also excluded the plug-in directories and my entire Content directory.  If you have the VST scanner set to scan on startup, then Defender will still be involved during the VST scan if those locations aren't also excluded.

You should also check disk fragmentation and Event Logs to make sure you don't have a disk with errors being reported.

Bob is spot on.
Def exclude Sonar, and even the plug in manager (good idea about the plug in directory's too) from your AV.
The age we are living in now, if you are seriously doing any kind of digital audio (even as a hobby) grab yourself an SSD. you can get one now for about 70.00 USA dollars ( a Crucial 256 GB SSD).

It not only changes the speed sonar boots, but also changes the time it takes for your PC to start up, which in my opinion is crazy fast. I can go from power button/booting the pc - to my desktop in under 15 seconds.
That's totally shut off to up and running (Windows 8.1).

Some do not do this, but I also stream my audio on it as well (I store my projects on the SSD along with my OS, Sonar, Exc).

Hi, I'd like say it worked! I've added more folders to the excluded list, and also disabled some Windows Defender functions. It improved a bit, as it took 50 sec to start Sonar on the first time, which includes choosing a simple project from Start Screen. : )

I'll keep trying, but for now is good. Thanks for the help!

Best regards
