There are a few clips in one of my projects that will not respond at all to the mute tool.  what causes that? It also won't split  What is it about those clips?

Thanks guys.  I made it stop by going to the edit filter in the track  and turning automated mute on and off.  Why that did anything?  I don't know.   but thanks so much
