What do you think of some added tempo map features:
 
1) Ability to save and load tempo maps into a project.  Many times, I need to SLOW down the MIDI tempo to perform some tracks (my keyboard chops aren't as good as they used to be).... so, after matching some live tracks tempo to a project, I would love the ability to slow the tempo down to help in performing over dubs in MIDI.
 
2) In lieu of number 1, a TEMPO percent adjustment where you could slow or speed up the clock of an existing projects TEMPO.
 
Both would work for me but none exist to aid in this process.  The only work around I use is to create another project where I create a copy of the project, adjust the tempo, then export the MIDI tracks that are created into the original project.  This works but takes a lot of time to allow me to adjust the tempo for these MIDI overdub tracks.

I would suggest something else. Would it be possible to assign a midi CC to tempo? Or reassign pitchbend wheel info to tempo to allow realtime accelerando or decelerando with fast return to reference project tempo by releasing the wheel.

Yes please. I would love to have midi pedal control of tempo. FWIW there was a rather lengthy feature request thread that included both of these ideas and others.

I don't want to change tempo or pitch of AUDIO tracks, just the tempo map for MIDI tracks.  The pitch, tempo and AUDIO is very difficult to implement as per the bakers... hence just a way to save or load tempo maps or temp % change of the MIDI tracks and leave the audio tracks as is.
 
The save and load tempo map thing would make it less confusing and would only effect any MIDI track tempo and not audio.

cant you just load up the said project, save it as a project template ?
this would include no data, just the song laid out with its tempo map.

Yep and then I have to copy the newly created MIDI tracks back into the original project. Which even though I can do this is one PITA.  Be much easier with a TEMPO percentage switch or the ability to save the GOOD TEMPO MAP... change the tempo in the project to perform the tougher tracks (slowed down) and then reload the original TEMPO MAP.

If you create a project template (with your tempo map) leaving your PITA midi tracks where they are.
save it as a project template. Next time you open this project template, your midi tracks will be there as will the tempo map you created.
You wont have to copy the newly created MIDI tracks. They will already be there.
 
this has come in discussion before, and to be honest, im not a big fan of project templates retaining data.
If I create a project template, I expect it to be a template, not a project filled with data. but it is.
And it is helpful for situations just like yours. if you save a project with data in it, the template will retain all that data in the project.
 
I could be misunderstanding you, if so, my apology's. im just trying to help you find an easier way .
As far as your idea though about Tempo maps. its a good idea and I would vote for it. unfortunately this thread is in the wrong place. Put it in the feature request section of the forum where users can vote on it. you got my vote.

What I would most like to see with tempo is the ability to alter all tempo changes at once by a percentage, so for example the user selects all tempo changes and increases or decreases them by, say, 12%.  By having this feature, we can try out different tempi without having to manually update every single ritard or accelerando by hand, but rather have them all change proportionately.
