New to the forum...
Suddenly I have an issue that has me ready to jump out a window...
Out of no where whenever I open one of my older projects my windows 7 PC locks hard and eventually BSOD's. These are very simple projects that I use as backing track when I play in bars.

I use these project to "Master" my backing track wav files. Each project has an exported wav file and the following 3 plugins on the master bus...Boost11_64, LP_EQ_64 and LP64_Multiband_64. Thats it. I have tried opening the projects in Safe Mode(or whatever its called) and not load any of the 3 plugins, no luck. Still locked hard.

My Windows EventViewer indicates that iaStor has crashed. Losing the projects is a killer. Not sure what to do next.

Also, newly created similar projects open fine.

Any suggestions?

Update Windows recently?  Iastor is the Intel Storage Manager, so it is something most likely with the system.

Welcome to the forum buddy.

You would benefit from filling out your signature, or at minimum listing your specs and more importantly, you Hard drive set up. Do you have these older songs on a separate hard drive than your OS, Sonar is on ?
that could be your issue right there.

9 times out of 10 a BSOD is a hardware failure (hard driver, RAM, failing CPU, Video card, Exc) or a driver issue.
that other 1 out of 10 is a mixture of, possibly a virus, an update, corrupt OS.

So I would look in to your hardware. doing some tests on your hard drive, making sure you have the latest updated for your video card, exc.
but to be blunt and honest. its a blind man trying to see in to your future. without more info, more specs on your set up...we are all just wildly guessing here.
Including myself.

Heres what I found for your error:
SYS files such as IASTOR.SYS are third-party (eg. Dell) device drivers or critical system files that come as part of the Windows operating system. Most SYS files allow internal PC hardware or attached hardware, such as a printer, to communicate with third-party software programs (eg. web browsers, word processors, Dell Precision n Series System Software) and the operating system (eg. Windows).
Other SYS files are critical system files called "kernel mode device drivers" which are used to power the Windows operating system. Files such as "CONFIG.SYS" contain configuration settings and specify what device drivers should be loaded by the operating system. Without driver files such as IASTOR.SYS, you wouldn't be able to do simple tasks such as printing a document

Thanks Chuck...I will post my specs when I get out of work. I will also look into potential issues with my hardware.

Step 1: open your computer and make sure all disk drive cables (both SATA and power) are well-connected, not loose or cockeyed. Vacuum it out while you're in there, in case dust bunnies are restricting airflow.
Step 2: pedal on down to the computer store and get yourself an external drive and back up your projects drive. Do this soon in case your drive is about to go TU.
Step 3: obtain a disk diagnostic (check the website of your drive's manufacturer) and run a thorough test on all your drives.

Thanks,

I will do a backup and check my drives.

The strange part that I still don't get even if it is a bad drive is that this only affecting older projects. When I say older I mean 1 or 2 months old. Any new projects created in the last week are all fine.

Well it surely would have helped if you answered some of the questions I asked and posted your specs.
