A while back I decided to upgrade to Sonar Artist, but have not had any time to spend with it until now.

In trying to set up the Prefs, I want to set the Control Surface to 'A-Pro - 1' - the presence of which Sonar seems to know about, as it lists 'A-Pro - 1' in the first column under Controller / Surface, but it won't let me save any settings for the In Port (should be '2-A-Pro 2') and Out Port (should be '2 -A-Pro') columns. As soon as I click 'Apply' or 'OK', the settings I've entered disappear. Consequently, while I can use the A-Pro to play notes, I can't use its transport controls or any other of its controls to act on the software. I also notice that 'A-Pro' doesn't appear under the Utilities Menu list, which it does in Music Creator 6 Touch (which I also use, on the same PC), so I can't access the virtual A-Pro layout either.

I am sure I'm missing something or doing something daft wrong, just can't figure what.


Any ideas?

That is normally an indication that controlling plug-in is not correctly installed / there is 32bit plug-in but 64bit Sonar (or reversed) / some dependency is broken. Try to reinstall A-PRO plug-in, f.e. from https://www.rolandmusik.de/products/a-800pro/downloads/ (A-PRO Series Control Surface Plug-in for SONAR)

Apologies for the long delay in replying - had a major computer issue since my previous post - now resolved.
 
I'll re-download the A-Pro driver and make sure it's the correct version. I'm sure you will be correct, because originally I was running my music software on a 32 bit system, but later upgraded my PC and then discovered the issue.
