Yes thanks all, I appreciate everyone's patience, so essentially all I needed to do was to bind the pause function to something other than space-bar.
Having said all this essentially all the keys are already assigned or used for some shortcut function, except maybe the "o" suggested, which is somewhat awkwardly located relative to space bar, additional keys on my keyboard (or mouse) are not recognized by locate key command. 
So there's will and a way, just no where, LOL. (guess Ill sacrifice a shortcut).
