  • LP-MB comp. What's the trick?

I'm trying to use the new LP-MB comp and having a tough time. I've boosted my latency to give it room to breathe but it just goes out of control. Things seem to be going fine and then it will just overload and pin the meters. I'm making subtle adjustments nothing crazy. After the meters pin I lose control of the entire DAW and then the entire PC, resulting in a forced power down.

Any ideas?

PS. - I'm using it on a project with 1 stereo track that I'm trying to remaster. It's a recovery from tape and I'm using it on the master buss along with the LP-EQ.

hey Johny,
I know the plug in is a CPU chewer. But it also needs up to date graphic / Open GL.
I would make sure you have up to date Windows and Graphics card up the newest updates.

let me know if this helps.

Good thought Chuck. I'm up to date and Open GL 6.something. 3 Gig of DDR5 and a graphic bandwidth of 240 Gb/sec. I had forgotten that this plug had some extra graphic requirements, thanks for the reminder.
Pretty sure this should be good to go. For some reason I can't find the docs for LP-MB so I guess I'll just shelve it until I get it sorted out.

How amazing is this company! I got an email from the developer asking me for details and telling me where to find the documentation. I've read the docs (once) and can see that I was making some real stupid adjustments. This plug is a beast and not one where you can just twiddle the controls and see what happens.

I'm going to have at it again later today after I read the docs a couple more times. Lot's more going on there than I thought and a lot more adjustments that I really didn't understand. When in doubt read the instructions.

I don't know if the circumstances would allow this, but it almost sounds like a feedback loop.  Any chance you are monitoring the FX through the plugin?  This could explain the meter peg while you are making adjustments.  I don't know because I haven't encountered the problem.  Let us know what it turns out to be.
