Hello -
I've just noticed that the input level of my acoustic guitar is high (around -12 on the meter
just peaking under the orange) yet the clip size is quite small and the playback level is low.
Surely if the input level is high,the resulting clip should have a good volume on playback.
I'm recording via a preamp but still, if the input is high, I can't see why there should be a problem.
As usual, I'm probably not aware of something vital! Any advice would be helpful.
All the best,
Echo

OK, not to worry. It turns out that when I played the track back,
I still had the record on! Ah well....

I don't think it will make any difference to the level of your recordings if record is on or off!

However, you can change the apparent size of the recorded waveform if you click and drag the scale divider;

Down for small:

Up for big:

Yes, you were probably looking at the recording of the new clip, and you weren't performing.  Even with multiple take lanes, the new recording (of nothing) will appear as the main track.

I think the OP is referring to the way the track meters do not show full level when the track is in record standby and you play it. They seem to show about half.
