If I load "007 - triangle.wav" from Rapture/Multisamples into Rapture and then also load it as "User 1" into Osc1 in z3ta+2, it plays one octave lower in z3ta+2.

I found this out using both programs standalone, but it's the same within Sonar.  Neither program has any kind of envelope/tuning/effects active (as far as I can tell).

How can this be ?

... that I never noticed this before?  I'm coming off several weeks of ungodly long hours, so the gray matter is running about an octave lower now, too.  But this one is driving me crazy.

I usually go in the opposite direction [z3ta waveshaper mangling > Save Wavetable As ... to Rapture], but the results are the same.  44.1K 16-bit mono into a User Wav (for example), and it comes out 44.1K 32-bit IEEE float.  And an octave difference between synths.

Same goes for z3ta+1.  Yet a Sound Forge-exported 32-bit IEEE float won't load into z3ta+2.0.  Disclaimer:  I've never been able to get the z3ta+ 2.1 update from my Cake account.  Yes, the one with all the corrections, load options, stereo wavetables, etc.  So I may be at a disadvantage here.

Baffling.  Thanks, Paul.  I was looking forward to catching up on some sleep.  Now I'll be dreaming at half the frequency.  Edit: 9+ year old related thread here.

Would be great if you could report this and other related issues in the Cakewalk problem reporter. Maybe maintain a list of all the problems you are finding, URLs and issue numbers. This in turn may prompt a patch.

We need somebody to champion and compile Z3TA+2 issues. Sounds like you might be the person to it?

So far, I post for two reasons - to find out if I'm doing something wrong, and to let any future user know that they are not imagining things.  I do a quick search first to see if what I encounter has already been mentioned.

I can easily keep track of everything, but I have a feeling anything formal wouldn't serve much purpose as I have a very strong feeling that Cakewalk is completely out of the synth business : how long has it been since anything has been mentioned, four years ?  If I'm wrong, I'd absolutely like to know about it.

Too bad, since for me Cakewalk was a synth/midi company and the only reason I bought X2.

Over on kvr (where I don't hang out) there are/were lots of zeta bugs discussed, but the general feeling is one of despair.

Once I've hit all the snags, I'm sure I'll be quite happy with my synths.  It's just annoying when I have limited free time and most of that is spent figuring out why something doesn't work as it should (like z3ta's Waveform Shaper).

Totally get you...
Cake have probably been extremely busy patching X3 and working on X4.

However Z3TA+2 was recently released for iPAD, and Z3TA+2 is still for sale and being promoted. I think anything you can compile (even just a list of links) would be extremely useful and save others time. I did one for X3 here which I believe has encouraged Cakewalk to get around to fixing them. Even if Cake doesn't fix it (one would hope they would), it will give existing users of Z3TA+2 a useful heads up when they arrive into similar issues with a known issue list. No need to worry if you don't have the time.

Definitely though, please throw them into problem reporter, that's the most important thing.

Cheers :).

I don't consider re-releasing z3ta for iPad to be a sign of synth maintenance / interest.  Just a re-issue of software that maybe few people at Cakewalk even understand any more.

I'd be very pleased to hear that this is not the case.

I'll give the bug list some thought - and do very much appreciate the work you've done for X3.

FWIW, two of the three developers of Z3TA+2 still work for Cakewalk.
