instead of cutting split points, maybe it could be better to just have Step Nodes, like in the Absynth envelopes

Well, the traditional musicians just got their cool new drum replacer toy. Good for them. How about we're next?

We can dream. I gave the OP 5 stars.

I would love this as well.

If this is what I think it is I like it. Doesn't FL studio have this? You can move the automation independently of the tracks. That's really useful, because now it's a bit difficult to copy automation data and IMO it should be easier.

Yes, exactly. My idea is basically taking the best features of the automation systems in FL, Logic, and even synths like Massive, Absynth and Alchemy (some of those may admittedly be somewhat overkill, I'm just throwing my ideas around), and rolling it all into Sonar. With a few twists, like, I don't know of any DAW that lets you select minimum and maximum value directly inside the automation lane.

I have yet another suggestion: each automation lane should have a dedicated MIDI learn function, which would work completely separately from ACT. Or, in other words, which would work.

It would be possible to import and export envelope clips in the browser with drag and drop.

Someone at cakewalk liked the thread. Guess there's hope.

They can skip the integrated sidechaining I guess - to be fair if I need this level of modulation I can just fire up massive or do it in MUX or something - but honestly pretty much everything else needs to be there

Like, ok here's the deal with step envelopes. Yes it can be done right now, using the Jump setting between breakpoints. There lies the problem though, as it's really annoying having to manually set the segments to Jump one by one. You can't select a bunch of breakpoints and make them Jump because the jump setting is in the segment menu and not the breakpoint menu! Whoever thought that out didn't do his job properly. And even then, we'd also need horizontal snap values to make it really workable.
