I actually got my PCR-800 working yesterday night. Not sure what made it work this time and not the last. Must have done something wrong previously. I will still look into getting a new one, but now I can dig deeper into this so I dont rush into something. Im sure the PCR will give me more headaches in the future..

Good to hear the PCR800 works.  I have a PCR500 and don't use it much.  Need to get it out and see if it too is working with the Anniversary update.   I had to modify the Roland driver to get it working when Win 10 came out, since Roland isn't officially supporting Win 10.

Tried my PCR500.  No go.  I had it working originally with the hacked Win 8.1 driver.  However, that won't install now.  I tried reinstalling and get a notice that I have to uninstall the PCR driver first.  I uninstall, reboot, and try to install and it keeps reporting I have to uninstall the driver.  I've tried several other things and still won't install.

Fortunately I didn't pay much for the PCR500, I bought it when Guitar Center was "blowing out" the PCR's when they were discontinued.  If someone wants the PCR500, for shipping cost only, PM me.

Happy with my Kontrol S49 and Nektar P6 but I would love to get my Roland/Edirol PCR-50 (a predecessor of the PCR-500) talking to Logic Pro X in El Capitan (or Mavericks).
Anyone?

Which has the better keyboard? and would you get a Kontrol s49, s61 or even a s88 if you were to buying today?  Would you get a nektar p4 and a kontrol 61 instead?

Since I have just upgraded my cubase to pro, I am now considering getting the Nektar, but since I have the Maschine Studio, well I might be still procrastinating over keyboards at xmas, which might be a good plan in itself.

I won't consider Roland when I do get a replacement.  Roland Zapped me twice, they won't get a third chance.  I had a Roland Octa-Capture.  The small Headphone I/O board is bad but Roland will only sell a package of internal boards for $250, not the Headphone I/O board alone.  I mentioned "Had" as it is gone.  Now the Roland Edirol PCR500 will be gone since they will not support Windows 10.  That rids me of Roland gear.

Wouldn't like to miss either of them. But would I prefer to go Nektar P4 and Kontrol S61 or S88? Definitely not S88, 'cause I'm not into (semi-) weighted and I do find the Kontrol S88 somewhat too "heavy" to play, handle and even look at. I do like to have all knobs and sliders evenly distributed over the top panel of a keyboard, which is why I preferred to get a Roland FA06 above an FA08. Same goes for the Kontrol S49 over the S61. The top just looks more evenly covered.
(I do hope you understand what I'm trying to say here.)
If NI were to add more knobs and sliders, or maybe a center screen, I might reconsider an S61.
Then again, I think I would love an 88-keys Nektar P8 if ever launched. The pads would be more evenly distributed and there would be more of them, to mirror Reason's Kong drum synth.
So, to conclude, the knobs on the NI Kontrol series pushed me towards an S49, but even more sliders and pads on the Nektar Panorama series would handily allow for an 88-key version. Preferably still synth-style keys, for me. Meanwhile, that P6 is pretty sweet.

I found a new home for my PCR500.  A person in Alabama that is still using Win 7.
Now to find a new MIDI keyboard.

I don't use a keyboard that much.  The task is to find something relatively inexpensive.  The PCR500 was like new.
