• SONAR
  • Insert audio places clip thousands of measures late.

All of a sudden, whenever I try to insert an audio clip it ends up somewhere between 1700 and 2200 measures in! (and creates markers before and after the clip?). The now time is set to the proper place where I want to insert the clip. It does this whether I drag and drop, insert via menus, or double clicking in the browser. I have restarted multiple times and I started a new file to see if my song file got glitched but it did the same thing on a totally blank new file.

Does anyone know what's wrong?

Try going to preferences>file>audio data and unticking both  'always import broadcast waves at their timestamp' and 'allow importing of wave file cue markers'.

For some reason there seems to have been a groundswell of broadcast waves floating around for the last couple of years Chuck!

Almost any stem exported out of ProTools seems to be a broadcast wave file unless whoever is exporting it takes special precautions.  And to make matters worse, ProTools starts its timeline at 1:00:00.000 instead of 0:00:00.000.

Would be nice if there was a "Fifty Most Asked Questions" sticky that people could browse before asking again. The forum search feature is wonky at best.

It might be worth someone posting a feature request to have a dialog box pop up during the Insert Audio function = I am thinking maybe it could offer a check box for importing at Broadcast Wave Time Stamp or to ignore and paste at Now Marker, with an added way to tell it to not ask again, if desired.

OR - maybe build in one more menu option choice for importing audio to have it as an option there to ignore Broadcast Wave Time Stamp.

Anyways - something along those lines perhaps?

OR - even just maybe a paragraph about it in the Read Me file.  It's pretty much just a matter of folks new to importing audio into Sonar being informed about it in some fashion one time, so whatever way could be fashioned to present that info to folks the first time they try to import audio would likely suffice.
