Mr. torture
Can anyone explain how to do this in Sonar? It seems setting up side chaining is much easier in this other program he uses.

of course it is, that's because he is using Pro-Q by fab filter.
if you purchase Pro Q you can do the same thing. but the links Promidi left above work.
especially this one:

I have Pro-Q2 by fab filter and want to do exactly what he is doing in that video I posted. But I cannot figure out how to setup the sidechain in Sonar. All he did was right click, select side chain and the Pro Q. You cant do that in Sonar, you have to setup busses and stuff. Seems overly complicated.

Good day,

Using Cakewalk TV PC side-chain example, using PC4K, (or in any case) for ducking bass, for kick drum,

Would the side-chained compressor on bass channel also be affecting the bass sound in general, when not triggered by kick channel?, or does it only operate when triggered by kick drum, and otherwise does not affect (compress) bass signal?

No busses required. Once you've inserted Pro-Q into an audio track, its second input automagically shows up as a selectable Send destination for other tracks. It's then just a matter of right-clicking on the track you want sent to it and selecting "Insert Send". 2 mouse clicks.

Another related question, I premixed my drums in Addictive Drums 2 to a single channel in Sonar, but also recorded the kick drum to a single track, to use only for side-chain ducking bass, what would be the best way to use this kick track only to duck bass, but not be included (heard/recorded) in overall mix?

You use a buss if you want to affect multiple tracks using a single compressor.

Option 2: it only operate when triggered by kick drum
