OK, maybe most of you out there have had this happen. You open Sonar, only to get the message that you don't have an interface. What I always have to do is, close sonar, turn on the interface, then restart sonar. Just out of curiosity, has anyone found out how to just tell sonar that you've turned on your interface without having to restart it?

AFAIK, there is no way to speed up the process. Eventually SONAR may detect the interface after it is powered up (SONAR does this for me) but I find it faster to cycle SONAR than wait for Windows, SONAR and interface to realize everything is ready.

My computer and midi controllers and audio interface are usually always left on.  If the computer IS off - everything will start up and connect once Windows gives power to the USB ports, which is how all of that stuff is connected for me on my system.

Mine is same as OPs. Sonar is quick to see when you turn OFF the interface but very slow to never seeing when it's turned ON.

Always best to have usb devices up & running 1st then open Sonar.

Sometimes it tells me its disconnected when it IS connected. I always click NO either way.

I still get the "Master bus is silent" when it's working fine bug too.

As suggested above, I always turn my peripherals on first, then my computer and finally my monitors.

Never had a problem doing it this way.

This is how I run things and I have never had a problem.

I once had a similar issue and it turned out to be a bad USB port.
it worked, but only half cracked. In other words, the port was worn out

Your problem is not so bad!! I have at times lost the connection between Sonar and my Studio-Captures and the only remedy is to uninstall the drivers, go to Windows Update and let it reinstall the drivers again! I had to set any standalone programs to run in anything but ASIO, which is what I use for Sonar. I finally had to give up on using Mixbus 3 because of this problem. Mixbus and Sonar get along well with my other interfaces but NOT the Studio-Captures. If anybody knows how to fix that I will trade some of my kids!!!

OK, I just clicked on a project that I have stored out in the cloud and FORGOT to turn on my interface. It takes awhile to load this project. I'll have to close Sonar, turn on my interface, and reload the project. Wouldn't it be nice if Sonar would realize that I turned on the interface while the project was loading and present me with a lovely box that said, "Interface Found"
