Hey Zargg - Just an FYI but you can disable Windows auto updates by setting your wireless connection as a "metered" connection.

Thanks, bigfrog. I usually try to keep my pc up to date, with both SONAR and windows.
And I have wired connection on my studio pc. Will the same apply there? Might check it out.
All the best.

Well something happened over the weekend because now AD2 wants me to re sign on and my Elicencer too???
Bet if I try and open Melodyn it will be freaked out. What's with Windows 10 screwing up all these licences and passwords. I had to re sign into Google.

Zargg - I found this article for setting Ethernet connections as "metered".  It's a little more involved tha for the wifi and involves some registry editing.

I like to disable updates to have more control over, well, pretty much everything. If it aint broke don't fix it!

Well, I'm still not sure that my issue wasn't caused by the SONAR update, so...

I really think that we have reached a point with the current Windows software updates that makes learning how to perform system image backups essential to avoid potential interruptions of workflow.

Just pick one of the many options available, such as Macrium Reflect Free, and a USB drive large enough to hold a few backups of your PC (hopefully with images taken at least weekly, or at least before any major changes to your PC).

If you have any issues after a Windows update (or even a Sonar update, or any hardware driver upgrade), you can roll back to your latest working PC image in just a few minutes.  That could save you days of troubleshooting and frustration.  Never having to re-install Windows to get it working again... priceless

all you have to do regardless of connection type or version of windows 10 9home or pro) is to go to
control panel/administrative tools/services then scroll down to windows update and right click on it and disable it, job done, i have seen many strange and wonderful ways of achieving the same result, some including registry hacks, there is no need and never has been, it's a simple matter and all done with a few clicks. i have had mine disabled for well over 3 months, before the anniversary update reared its ugly head (still on version 1511 i think it is), and have zero issues, in contrast to many folk who keep up to date and seem to have many various issues?, of course ymmv

Yep. The recent anniversary update caused issues with my AD2 registration and some other funky stuff. I use the Windows 7 Restore tool in Windows 10 and create a system image just about on a weekly basis. Overall I'm really pleased with Windows 10, but due to these issues (plus a stupid "suck in Airplane mode" issue that disabled my internet!!) I think doing a system image on a regular basis is probably a good practice.
