Hello - I've read the tutorial on Cyclone, but when I drag a loop into the loop bin, it is not sliced into individual hits.  It remains as a single, complete wav.  What am I missing?  Thanks for any help.

Cyclone can't loop. You must load an acidiced wave file, see here:

Yes... the file needs to already be in a "loop"/"sliced" format and Cyclone only accepts certain types of commonly used loop files (don't recall offhand but they are listed in the Cyclone manual which is what EMused probably linked to).

Good news is you can actually take those unsliced wave files (or unsupported loop file formats) and convert them to a file Cyclone will accept as a loop inside Sonar. Use the Loop Constructor and export/bounce options in Sonar to create the correct file format.

Cheers.

Thanks!  I'm able to open and slice the loop (8 beats of 8th notes) using loop construction.  Everything slices ok.  According to the "Loop Construction View" tutorial, I should be given the option of saving the sliced loop as a "riff" file.  This "save as" option does not show up - I get wave, broadcast waves or all files.

I feel like I'm half-way there...I've read several tutorials, but still can not get Cyclone to read the sliced loop.  I'm obviously missing something.  Again, thanks in advance.

Save as wave-file. This file ist an acidiced file, extension ist ".wav" too.

This is an older Sonar Cyclone video from an old forum friend, dustpuppy.

Thanks for the info. I have followed that tutorial before, and Cyclone will not slice a wav in Sonar Professional. When trying to add an audio file into Cyclone, it asks for a *.cyc file - wav is not an option.  I see that there are multiple options for Exporting Audio in Sonar Pro, but have yet to find a format that Cyclone will accept.

The Sonar "help" that was suggested to me only deals with ACIDized wavs.  In Cakewalks own words:
"Note: This documentation refers to any audio data that you can import into Cyclone as loops, referring to ACIDized loops and standard Wave files."

I can not find any reference to creating the correct audio formats on the SONAR-CYCLONE pages.
Thanks though.  Anyone?

I don't know what you are doing but I have used Cyclone the same way since Sonar Cyclone came out in version 2.0 or 2.2 XL years ago, which was when I first started using Sonar.   Export the loop from Sonar and save as a Wave file and then drag it back into the Cyclone loop bin.

Are you making the wave file a groove clip first? In Sonar select the wave file on the track and press CTL + L, the edges on the wave file will become rounded.  Now drag that into the Cyclone loop bin and it appears as an acidized file.

Read this SOS Magazine article about Cyclone and it will give you instructions that you didn't get via the Video.   I still use Cyclone with my M-Audio Trigger Finger just for Fun.   I have a book full of printed SOS Techniques for Sonar to refer to for assistance.

You can save acidized waves from the loop construction view in SONAR.

The folder icon you are using in Cyclone is trying to open a cyclone preset file. Instead try using the folder to the right of the trash can in the loop bin

or right-click a pad and load a wave directly into the pad from the context menu

There was one step missing - I needed to save the wav via the "Clip" menu the Loop Construction
window.  Many thanks for taking the time to help me!
