All good old mate, i found the documentation on selecting rows, you have to hold alt and click or drag on the play buttons on each row...........and yes i was clicking on evrything but that!!!!!So i built a 64 step pattern......sometimes it drops out and doesnt play all the beats.......im assuming this is a computer lack of performance problem....its like it has to process it and think about it for a bit before it plays it properly...so hmm....maybe i need a better processor

For the missed beats problem you could try Prefs>MIDI>Playback and Recording>Prepare Using XXX Millisecond Buffers.  I've always bumped mine up to 500 milliseconds

Bob is right also, adding to your buffer will help your comp "think" a little better.

Ah ha, yeah that worked beefed it up to 500 milli seconds....you are all Gods, and im completely sold on these online forums!!!!
