HI,

I just updated Sonar Platinum to 2016.09 update 2 (22.9.2.42) and it crashes with no error messages. I've made on hardware / software system changes except the usual wondows updates.

Steps:
Load Sonar
Either:
Sonar loads existing project that has worked consistently before -> Press play -> Blue spinning ball
or doesn't load a project at all - > blue spinning ball

Windows reports the program has stopped
Can't kill SONARLT.exe in task manager

Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks

Gary

I had something similar with one my projects. It would load, but I blue screened when I played it. Lucky, I had another version of the project, which didn't crash.

Try rolling back to the last version of Sonar and see if it stops crashing.

A blue screen is a driver crash.  You can view the details using this utility:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

Based on the named driver, you'll want to search for the latest driver update for it.
Some audio drivers can blue screen if a plugin takes down the host because they're not handling that gracefully.

This other nirsoft utility will show anything that WER (Windows Error Reporting) has caught.

Thanks guys but...

I'm not getting BSOD -  only blue spinning ball. SP becomes unresponsive or crashes when pressing play.

Latest news: my PC reported a disk error on startup but ran WD SMART diagnostic and all criteria passed.

After some research I'm hedging it's the win10 anniversary update is maybe the issue. Going to rollback and chech again.

Will let you know what I find.

Cheers

Did you try opening in Safe Mode ? (Hold SHIFT + Open Sonar)
If all else fails, Re personalize. (Hold CNTRL +  Open Sonar)

If both of these steps wont do the trick, Delete AUD.INI and restart Sonar, Let Sonar Rebuild the .INI file.

A project is launched in Safe mode by holding SHIFT while opening a project.
A partial re-personalization happens if holding SHIFT while starting SONAR.

Good day to all,
This resembles the same issue I  was having. It seems that it was after the last win 10 update. What I  did was locate the problem child, where it was located and remove the program, Pro, Plat,....etc. I  did find it in some odd places. Was not listed in programs and features. I removed every instance of the program and also removed the CCC completely. After the search and removal of said programs I  started from scratch with the latest version of CCC. Once that was loaded correctly I  loaded Sonar (Plat), and when complete all things were working correctly. Even the problem with the newer CA2A was gone. Hope this helps. Win10, I  don't think  is playing fairly. Oh yes!......I  forgot to mention that I  had removed the audio interface drivers and connections before the reloading of Sonar Plat. Hope it all gets resolved for you.

Hey scook,
Do you know what is wrong if you hold shift and start sonar and nothing happens. I haven't been able to  find safe mode yet. And also what is the good usage of safe mode.
Thanks
MJ
