A couple of nube question SergeQ as I know nothing about smart watches! Can you assign a PC key command to a function on your  watch, and if so what software do you use on your computer to do it? Also, does it connect through WiFi or bluetooth?  I use Sonars playlist function for live performance and all that I need to be able to do is trigger the space bar remotely. I use a POK foot controller at present but your video got me thinking a watch would be a great additional way to do it!

i think it's not problem at all to use for your purposes absolutely any controller or android device (or smart watch from the video) with any type of connection to your PC

From everything I have heard and used, local communications using specialized dongles work more stable and reliable then BT and WiFi. POK explicitly mentioning they are aware of the problem. Also special solutions are "plug and use", I mean simple to setup.
 
IoT does not look like perfect solution for that use case. It is "provider -> server -> subscriber" implemented on software level, originally not designed with "real time" in mind, unlike f.e. BT (hardware), rtpMIDI (software) and other.
 
Also all that technologies and devices are relatively new, stability can be an issue.
 
But as long as you have reliable foot button in the near for emergency case, i think using your watch to switch songs is a nice idea

Thanks so much for the info Alexey. I have started reading through but IoT is completely new to me so I have some learning to do. There is already a lot happening on my live show laptop running Sonar, Ableton Live, Traktor DJ, Lemur Daemon and DMXIS all synced one way or another, as well as Bome Midi translator and the POK, so the pc client for any remote device needs to be pretty stable, transparent and light on resources.
 
Great job on the demo video! Really looking forward to seeing where you head with this:)
