tenfoot
A couple of nube question SergeQ as I know nothing about smart watches! Can you assign a PC key command to a function on your watch, and if so what software do you use on your computer to do it? Also, does it connect through WiFi or bluetooth? I use Sonars playlist function for live performance and all that I need to be able to do is trigger the space bar remotely. I use a POK foot controller at present but your video got me thinking a watch would be a great additional way to do it!
Interesting, possible and fun.
Now about technologies used in this example. Device:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_of_things From everything I have heard and used, local communications using specialized dongles work more stable and reliable then BT and WiFi. POK explicitly mentioning they are aware of the problem. Also special solutions are "plug and use", I mean simple to setup.
IoT does not look like perfect solution for that use case. It is "provider -> server -> subscriber" implemented on software level, originally not designed with "real time" in mind, unlike f.e. BT (hardware), rtpMIDI (software) and other.
Also all that technologies and devices are relatively new, stability can be an issue.
But as long as you have reliable foot button in the near for emergency case, i think using your watch to switch songs is a nice idea
