I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with Splat (nothing came up when I Googled the forums):  I've had a very busy spring starting a new job so I can't say for sure which release of Splat I first noticed this in, but a lot of my plugins are missing bits of their names, mostly the descriptors at the end of multiple version of the same plugin.  For instance, for many of the NI Synths as FX are missing the routing descriptors at the end, i.e., 2in16out, 16x16 etc, so that I end up with 5 versions of Kontakt listed that are all just labeled "Kontakt".  This has happened mostly with the routing info on NI plugs and also ALL of my mono UAD plugs  are missing the "(m)" so I don't know which are mono and which are stereo.  Resetting my VST's did not fix this.  The only fix I found  is going into the old VST properties and manually re-adding the info, but that's a bit cumbersome for how many I need to do (the reset time after you enter the info is substantial - I have a lot of plugs).  Anyone else experiencing this?  Know of a fix?

Thanks
Bud

This was changed in X2a when the VSTPlugInNameFormat variable was added to Cakewalk.ini. See the description of the variable here http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=INI_Files.4.html. Set the variable to 1 for the old behavior

edit: fixed link

I'll check try that when I get home this evening.  Yes, I think the DLL name option will fix this.

0 = VST Name
1 = DLL Name
2 = VST Name (DLL Name)
3 = DLL Name (VST Name)

Thanks!!!!

Don't use 1 if you have waves plugins as it will add the term Wave shell 9.3 VST 3 to the beginning of each plugin name. I use 2.

Just rebuilt my DAW and had to look this up again.  Noticed that scook's link was no longer valid so I had to dig this up myself.  Here's what looks like (hopefully) a more permanent link to this topic if anybody else finds their way here looking for help:

It is still in the help http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=INI_Files.4.html
I will fix the link in this thread

Thanks for re-visiting this, as I had completely missed on how to change this default behavior since X2a. Now I can see my stereo/mono UAD plug-ins clearly defined again.

Cheers,
