Craig, the issue involves pair of changes documented on the linked New Features page on comping enhancements:
- Cross-cropping abutting clips is now possible without a modifier key. Position the mouse pointer in the top half between two abutting clips, then drag up/down.
- To crop just a single clip, hold down the CTRL key and drag the left or right clip edge.
In other words, if the edges of two clips
in a lane are abutting as the result of splitting, whether with the split tool or the comp tool, you can drag the split point left/right by dragging with no modifier key (I think it's an error that the note says 'drag up/down' which applies only to the cross-fade tool) - in other words the two clip edges are cropped together by the same amount.
If you want to crop only one of them, you now have to hold Ctrl to get the individual cropping tools in lanes. In the parent trackw ith lanes closed, you'll still get individual tools without hold Ctrl.
