Latest version of Sonar Platinum 2016.10
Attempt to insert audio fx REmatrix (1.1.16 and also rolled back to 1.1.13)
Sonar immediate crashes and starts Fault Reporter.
Has anyone else seen this behavior, any ideas?
I have not had problems with REmatrix in the past. Today I bought the new IR set Golden Glue and also updated REmatrix.
Thanks for any help or troubleshooting ideas.

Solution: Apparently you must uninstall the old version before installing the new version.

not that it didn't work for you, but i did not have to uninstall the older version prior to installing the new and rematrix worked fine in all my daws. although i have not updated sonar platinum to the latest version yet. so perhaps that is not the solution and something else was amiss. i will update to the latest version of sonar platinum now and see if that has any bearing.

edit - updated sonar platinum to the latest version and no issues

I listened to these last night and they sound like IR's created from reverb units. If you already have decent reverbs like Valhalla/Lexicon/Exponential (and so on), I think you are covered.

so perhaps that is not the solution and something else was amiss.

I have a nagging feeling that something else is amiss on my system. After literally years of rock-stable SONAR, I've had a lot of crashes in the last few days...more like SONAR 3 on a dual-core. :)

This is a total shot in the dark, but it seems there are three issues when Windows does updates:

  • It may be necessary to re-install interface drivers
  • If you disabled the "HD" audio driver installed by graphic cards, Windows might turn it on again
  • Check if there are graphics driver updates and install the most basic version

I have no idea if these suggestions will help but I have seen them referenced in the forum.

i guess the windows update could be a thing if you keep windows 10 up to date. i disabled windows 10 updates over 3 months ago and enjoy smooth sailing. which is somewhat ironic as it seems people who stay up to date suffer numerous and various issues. of course some will say it will bite me in the @$$ somewhere down the track, while possible i myself doubt it, as this is the way i have been doing things since the windows 98 days and have never had a problem. time will tell
