Can you guys chime in on this and let me know what are the lowest roundtrip latency figures you got (and at what sample rates) on a first gen Focusrite Scarlett interface?

I'm currently at 27.7 msec at 44.1 with a 5.0 msec buffer setting on W10 x64.

44100k @ 5ms buffer = 31.3ms roundtrip (as reported by sonar.)

That latency is downright brutal. Is that seriously the lowest you can get on Focusrite's ASIO drivers?

Sonico
My 18i20 gives me 9.2 at 64 samples 44.1 and 6.7 at 32 samples 44.1
With 3.2.2 beta driver

No, just the lowest set at 5ms.

Cactus Music
Scarlett 6i6 1st gen

5ms = 221 samples
input 11.4
output 16.4
total RTL= 27.7

This is where I leave it as anything lower will cause trouble. Doesn't bother me as I don't monitor my back end.

I see that I'm not alone based on the figures Cactus Music and RSMCGUITAR posted.

Would love to get that beta driver sonico is using but it seems Focusrite has moved on from the Scarlett 1st gen.

I wonder if the latency is even reported properly. I certainly don't a problem with my playing at the above settings I posted.

Also, I'm using the 2.5.2 driver. There is a 2.5.1 and 3.2.2 as well

Focusrite interfaces offer a superb price:performance ratio, which is why I use one. But one of the reasons they're a great bargain is the chipset they (and many other manufacturers) use, which is cheap (good for consumers) but incapable of the lowest latencies offered by more expensive brands (e.g. RME).

For me, it was a reasonable tradeoff because I don't care about low-latency performance. But if you're someone who plays sampled instruments in real time, and therefore needs to get round-trip latency down under 20 ms, then you're probably looking at a pricey hardware upgrade to achieve that.
