Cakewalk newbie question about VST Adapter 64 bit and Sonar 3 Studio Edition 32 bit

Hi, so I just obtained a copy of Sonar 3 Studio Edition (32 bit) and was hoping I could use 64 bit VST Plugins via the Cakewalk VST Adapter. issue with track names in piano roll

Can I use my MIDI controller to play my iPad synths in Sonar?

I can play my iPad synths in Sonar by loading them through the Studiomux VST. But I would also like to control them using my Komplete Kontrol MIDI controller. Is this possible? If so, how do I set it up? I know it can work with iConnectivity devices, but I'm wondering if it can be done without them...
