Just to the right of the Track number in Track View, there is a little wav icon for an audio track or a little keyboard icon for a midi track. X3 - mute clip doesnt work but erase does

Question about the MUTE tool. I cant get it work on a clip, at all. Nor can I get the "Mute clip" function to work on any clip. The Erase tool works perfectly just like it should - mute, never. Is the Mute tool only for comping? If not, what am I doing wrong?..
