CPU resources question

On a empty track (no clips), if you load the FX bin with plugins are you getting a CPU hit even though the plugins aren't processing anything. Question about changing colors

I'm wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to adjust the color setting of an effect in the effect's bin to show more clearly if the effect is enabled or disabled. Right now it kind of grays itself when off, but not really noticeable. What item would this be in the colors window? just a thought...

Changing screen-sets add envelope

I notice sometimes that when working on audio tracks without any envelopes then change the screeen-set a volume envelope gets added to the track automatically. Is this normal or is there a setting I need to change to stop this from happening? TIA..
