When I was recording to tape, if a vocal part was a little too low, I would speed the machine up a 1/2 step or a whole step, record the vocal,---then bring the machine back to normal speed. Using X3 - Sorry that my explanation is not using quite the right terminology but hopefully you know what I'm getting at - I find that when there's a fade-in envelope on an audio clip and I'm trying slip edit to adjust its length, it's the red fade-in line rather than the blue length adjusting line ..

I have problems in my Sonar projects of tracks/take lanes either taking too much real estate or not enough. I have to expand the track to set options, but then there is too much space taken. When a track height is manually resized I can usually come up with a compromise that has two rows of options ..
