Mic a Bass Amp

I got out of recording about 1996. I just updated to new Sonar Platinum. How do I get an real guitar and bass into the pc/sonar? Do I just buy a Shure SM58 with a USB plug and plug it into the pc, or should I go through a couple other machines before entering the computer? Thanks for your help. Jim..

How can I download plug ins from older versions of Sonar without having to download the full program. Looking for some of the Nomad stuff as well as the cakewalk tempo delay. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated...

Heads up > little glitch in the latest version

I'm seeing some graphyx anomalies flipping between apps and Sonar that sometimes force me to kill and restart Sonar to recover in the latest version (no saving is possible... can't even stop the recording in progress). It isn't happening often, but it's there. Nothing repeatable. For those who care ..
