[Solved] Just Got Console 1 - no bidirectional communication is taking place

The Console 1 plugin shows the message "The DAW does not support automatic track name and numbers." but I know this is supposed to be supported. Also, no bidirectional communication is taking place so I can't control pan, etc. No idea how to rectify - would appreciate any help you can offer.....
