VST scanning not working

I had set the VST scanner to operate manually but now I can't scan manually, have tried to reset it to scan on loading and background and no scan happens. the manual scan button is grayed / dithered out and clicking the button does nothing. Hi Lance has kindly located my old reg number code that needs to let me use my sonar 7 pro .on the register my sonar message.... under the serial number, do i just type it in? as its not internet used only a music computer only ..or transfer the number from my laptop, to my cpu, where the message is..
