Newbie adds 1 note & gets 6 measures of the same note? What help feature have I engaged?

Online help says what follows, for adding a single note to a single track. But I get, instead, 6 measures of notes? I'm sure I have engaged some helpful advanced feature but multiple hours of work still haven't left me with a clue as to what I am doing wrong. Most of the following is a direct quote ..

Missing track Icons

I want to use the instrument track icons in Sonar X3 studio, however although the Views/Icons/ Track icons boxes are all ticked, when I right mouse the "midi socket" icon on any track I do not get the Instrument Icon list show up as shown in the help file. Any one know why and/or how to correct it??..

Jog wheel only lines up when tempo is 120

Hey Guys and Gals, I am wondering is anyone can tell me how to get my jog wheel to line up with musical bars when tempo is changed from 120. I did a test, and sure enough if I change tempo on a new, empty project from 120 to anything else (unless is is a multiple of 120), my jog wheel will not land ..
