Volume automation "write" not working at all

Can't for the life of me figure out why my volume automation is not working. I can hand-draw nodes into the automation lane and sonar will read them, but my track sliders will not work in "write" mode. I engage the "write" button in the track, but nothing happens when I hit play and ride the fader. ..
