Synth rack?

Why can't I just have the regular old synth rack view. With + sign then red X for removal of synth. Then properties, then Insert synth options then drop down menu which defaults to NONE when rack is empty. . Every time I add a synth the view changes. I do NOT want it to change. Mapping Alesis Electronic Drum Kit
