My Midi drumming is too hard

I have a MPD18 16 pad midi controller that I'd like to use for creating midi drum tracks. However, when I am using it, I hit the pads fairly hard and all the note velocities end up at 127. I am sorry if the title sounds as newbie as I am... although I have been recording for years I just can't quite get it right...even if I record only 1 track, when I export the mp3 and play back elsewhere (different pc) I always have to crank up the volume to hear it ... copy tempo changes from 16 bit project to 24 bit

I have some songs I started recording in a 16 bit project I know that when you copy them to to a new 16 bit project the tempo changes can be copied too. So how can I copy the tempo changes to a new 24 bit project in sonar ?..
