Does anyone doing film scoring have any suggestions about track arranging, to allow Main Mix plus the inclusion of "stems" to be sent to a film editor. [Solved] What does a "hollow" waveform mean?

I was trying to edit some clips in some take lanes and I ended up with some clips with hollow waveforms. They don't play, like they have been muted, but the unmute command does not change them back.
