i want to record an audio track.... HELP MEEEE

without it automatically "converting midi to audio". i use MC 2 and 5 and i've opened the same song on both... it's basically like 5 midi tracks with a vocal track... i go to record some bass but the audio track starts recording everything else as if i'm converting everything to audio. what the hell..
